Carlos Tavares was appointed a National Institute of Aging T32 Pre-Doctoral Trainee through the Duke Population Research Institute (DuPRI). The Demography of Aging pre-doctoral program provides rigorous training for scholars pursuing research centered on aging. Tavares’ research will focus on racial disparities in aging and understanding which race measures (self-identification, external validation, phentotype) best predict health and aging outcomes.
