Hi! My name is Tessa Kawall. On campus, I stay busy as a Communications Intern for Duke Athletics and also serve on the Social Impact Committee for Duke's Association of Business Oriented Women. When I'm not working or in class, I love to lift weights at Wilson or go on long walks with my friends. I also enjoy cooking and exploring new coffee or pastry shops around Durham!
Favorite Class: My favorite class at Duke was a history class called 'Book Publishing & Marketing: A Case Study of the Romance Fiction Industry.' Going into the semester, I wasn't too excited, as history was never my favorite subject. But, throughout the semester, I started to love the process of thinking like a historian, especially during our field trips to the Rubenstein Library, where I looked at the archives and did proper research. I found myself showing up to every class genuinely eager to discuss the material and excited to learn more.
