Senior Sociology major, Kacia Anderson, is a finalist for the Young Trustee Position

Kacia is a senior from Fort Lauderdale, Florida studying Sociology with a minor in Chemistry. She focuses her studies on health policy and inequities from a comparative lens. At Duke, Kacia is a David M. Rubenstein Scholar (DMRS) and Questbridge Scholar, mentoring for both DMRS and DukeLIFE. She is a proud first generation Jamaican-American. On campus Kacia spends most of her time devoted to Duke University Union, currently serves as the Executive Vice President and previously in other capacities. Additionally, she sits on the Board of Trustees Strategic Education Committee after having served on the Undergraduate Education Committee as a junior. Outside of Duke, Kacia works part-time at educational non-profit, Citizen Schools, after interning through DukeEngage this past summer.

Kacia applied to the Board in hopes of serving in an impactful manner that will contribute to the longevity and accessibility of Duke. Key to this goal is continuing to aid Duke in its endeavor to be and cultivate global leaders. Kacia believes she can fulfill the role of Young Trustee due to the breadth of her Duke experience as well as her dedication and passion for Duke as a whole.
