Danielle M Headshot

Danielle Montagne: On Wednesday, March 22, Danielle successfully defended her dissertation titled “Three Papers on the Moral Perceptions of Scientific Misconduct”.

Danielle is employed for S&P Global, Sustainable1 where she works as a data scientist in the Climate Center of Excellence. She will continue her work there studying the intersection and feedback loop of climate model estimates and impacts on the global socioeconomic system from a localized perspective.

 

 

Thomas Wolff Headshot

Thomas (Tom) Wolff: On Monday, March 27, Tom successfully defended his dissertation titled “Three Papers on Peer Sanctioning, its Evaluation, and its Justification”.

Committee Members: Jim Moody (chair), Ashley Harrell, Steve Vaisey, Craig Rawlings

Later this month, Tom will be starting a position as a postdoctoral scholar in the CONNECT lab at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. As a postdoc, Tom will be working on several NIH-funded projects related to social network influences on HIV transmission.

Joseph Roso: On Wednesday, March 29, Joseph successfully defended his dissertation titled “Trends in the Practices and Rhetoric of Religious Organizations and Leaders in 21st Century America”.

Joseph plans to continue his academic pursuits in sociology.

Liann Tucker: On Tuesday, April 4, Liann successfully defended her dissertation titled “Adolescent Friendship Stability”.

Committee Members: Jim Moody (chair), Robert Faris, Ashley Harrell, Scott Lynch

Liann will be starting a postdoc position at RTI on May 1st— She’ll be in the Substance Use Prevention, Evaluation, & Research Program working on an NIH funded grant to study the long-term impacts of adolescent exposure to structural racism.

Devin Cornell: On Tuesday, April 4, Devin successfully defended his dissertation titled “Status and Engagement in the Fat Liberation Community on Twitter”.

Committee Members: Chris Bail (chair), Jim Moody, Craig Rawlings, Andrei Boutyline

After graduation, Devin plans to travel abroad for several months before returning to North Carolina. Moving forward, Devin is interested in academic or non-academic opportunities (contract or full-time) where he can collaborate with curious and creative minds interested in applying text and network analysis methods to uncover social processes that drive individual and organizational behavior.

Allison Stolte: On Tuesday, April 4, Allison successfully defended her dissertation titled “The Structural and Social Determinants of Intergenerational Health Inequalities: How State Policy Contexts and Discrimination Shape Birth Outcomes”.

Allison has accepted a postdoctoral position within the Department of Health, Society & Behavior at UC-Irvine​. She will work with Dr. Tim ​​Bruckner​ to examine how time- and place-based dynamics of inequality contribute to racial-ethnic disparities in perinatal outcomes across the US. drive individual and organizational behavior.
