How has being a Sociology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?
"After a career in marketing, I kept coming back to my interest in the way people interact -- specifically the human side of business. What motivates employees? How do we work together to achieve our goals? How can we influence positive and productive behavior in the workplace? I founded At Your Core to help organizations create culture with intention. Each culture, when it comes down to it, is a mini sociological experiment in action. I have found it intriguing and rewarding to see how different variables influence outcomes for companies and employees."
What advice would you give students in Duke's Sociology programs?
"Human relationships and interactions are foundational to ANY work that you will ultimately pursue throughout your career. Approach each relationship with empathy and a desire to understand and you will go far."
