Department of SociologyIn solidarity with Black students, faculty, and staff, and in response to demands for Duke University to acknowledge racial discrimination and inequality locally and globally, the Department of Sociology joins calls for accountability and action to end long-standing racial injustice. The foundation of our discipline is built on understanding the cultural and structural forces that drive persistent social inequalities, none of which have been more evident than they are today. Moving forward, we reaffirm our Department’s commitment to research and teaching that tackles critical questions of inequity to propel social change.
