Susan Jacobs

I am a PhD student in the Department of Sociology with interests in cultural sociology and medical sociology. Broadly, I am interested in how cultural sociology can help explain variations in individual experiences leading to long-term health disparities. I am also interested in quantitative methods, particularly Bayesian methods.

Currently, I am doing research on the cultural transmission of stigmas and stereotypes, though I also have interests in the processes by which beliefs motivate action and how these beliefs can be changed.

I received my BA from Florida State University in Philosophy, then received my MA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
