Angel Harris to Duke

Another big hire by Duke Sociology! Dr. Angel Harris, a rising star in Sociology at Princeton, will join us from July onwards.

Harris will have a joint appointment in Sociology and AAAS and he will also be the Co-Director of the Research Network on Racial and Ethnic Inequality in SSRI.  His work has been in the areas of education, social psychology, race and ethnicity, and statistics  and his 2011 book with Harvard Press,  Kids Don’t want to Fail: Oppositional Culture and the Black-White Achievement Gap, was an instant classic. He has a forthcoming book, along with Keith Robinson and also with Harvard Press titled, The Broken Compass: Is Social Policy on Parental Involvement Misguided?, which will likely become a big splash.
