Introduces divided histories of North and South Korea and global geopolitical legacies as a critical lens to understand post-1945 United States and beyond. Explores variable topics: imperialism, territorial division, hot and cold war, family separation, militarism, race, gender and sexuality, migration, refugees, human rights, and globalization in cross-border lens. Examines stories and images of trauma including sexual and racial violence. Critically engages historical, legal, and popular narratives, museums, literature, and visual and film cultures.
