MW 3:30-4:45
Why are the rewards of work distributed in extraordinarily unequal ways even 50 years after outlawing racial discrimination in employment? This course will cover the role organizations, professional structures, incarceration, education, and unionization play in sustaining racial inequalities; why workplace diversity and inclusion initiatives often fail; how recent shifts in the meaning and organization of work shape racial inequalities at work; how the US compares to other countries; and what policy solutions might reduce workplace inequality. (Counts as a pre-business course.)
