"Studying Sociology at Duke immersed me into the complicated and crucial dynamic between social networks and human health. My exposure to the copious societal factors influencing health such as geography, household income, education level, etc. will make me a more compassionate, perceptive, and effective physician. I am immeasurably grateful to Duke Sociology for teaching me the Sociological Imagination which will forever mark my life's goals and successes."
Advice Jacob would give Duke Sociology students:
"Take a wide range of Sociology courses! Although I was pre-med, I actually only took one class that was specifically based focused on health. Some of my favorite and most rewarding courses were on topics such as global immigration, Eastern European history, and contemporary sports culture."
